Survivor stories
You will be heard. You will be believed.
These are the words of women we have walked beside, shared with consent and kept anonymous. The words here are about healing and support. They do not describe abuse.
In their words
I have felt heard and seen in a different way to any other healing methods I’ve tried.
— Survivor
Every story on this page belongs to a woman supported by The Jessica Project. Each one chose to share it, chose the words, and can withdraw them at any time. That is what survivor-led means.
The voices
In her own words.
Shared so that the next woman knows what is waiting for her here.
What I loved most about the recovery programme I took was the ability to share lived experiences with other survivors and know I am not alone with my trauma. We were able to make genuine connections with others and empower each other. The amount of information shared during each session, showed how significantly informed the programme leaders were, and they demonstrated they were trauma informed, and showed absolutely care and attention for our cohort.
The Jessica Project’s recovery programme has helped me by believing in myself and going to be stronger.
My advice to someone thinking about connecting is that you are about to be part of a group of people who are able to see, hear and hold space for you. Strangers will become connected through learning and solidarity, that friends and family simply cannot understand. On good days, bad days, or I don’t know how I feel days, have faith you will be safe with The Jessica Project.
The Jessica Project has help me so much. I have found the course really amazing for my healing journey. I have learnt so much from Priya on the importance of learning amazing grounding techniques and how to live a positive lifestyle again.
I am now much firmer with my boundaries, and I feel much more clued up than ever before. This is by far the best programme of this kind that I have done and I cannot fault Priya at all. Her knowledge is exceptional and she is so warm and welcoming. Thank you.

How sharing works
Your story is yours. Always.
Nothing appears on this page without a survivor choosing it, word by word. Support is available in your language, and sharing is never a condition of being supported.
Your voice matters. Whenever you are ready.
Tell your story in your own words, in your own language, at your own pace. If and when you choose. And if these voices moved you, stand behind the women who shared them.
